BAPPS Masterclass

Nafsiyat Refugee Project – a psychoanalytic intercultural supervision model |

Gita Patel

This workshop will outline the intercultural supervision model used in the Nafsiyat Refugee Project. The project was responding to the psychological needs of recently arrived refugee communities in London. To carry out this work we developed a supervision model that could be used and developed to enable refugee organisations to deliver services within their own communities.

This workshop will offer the opportunity to explore the ideas of supervision in a changing social, economic and political environment and the challenges faced in working with new and innovative models of service delivery and supervision. Clinical examples of supervision will be explored to allow us to think about the complexities of the work.

Gita Patel was managing the refugee project and has published a chapter on this work in Intercultural Supervision in Therapeutic Practice by Baffour Ababio.

There will be a presentation followed by group discussions, comments and questions.
